About Friends for Change TnT
Founded out of a National Youth Leadership Workshop held by the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago in collaboration with the Commonwealth Youth Programme, we are a non-governmental, non-political, non-profitable organization.
We took into consideration our National Motto ‘Together We Aspire, Together We Achieve,’ and the projects which the Groups/Organizations to which we belong to were executing thus far. All the good they’ve had to offer to society and the environment. All the lives they've touched along the way, and all the many more lives they can touch right now in the present and the future to come. With this in mind, assessing them individually it got us to thinking even further...
The Organisation was therefore founded with the sole purpose to unite Youths throughout the Nation to pool their strengths, their ideas, and their resources to assist in the improving of the quality of life for our citizens and caring for the environment.
We have made the decision that we would rather be known as those who encourage others, as opposed to those who inadvertently discourage the people around us!
We know that we must not, in trying to think about how we can make a ‘Big Difference’, ignore the ‘Small Daily Differences’ we can make, which, over time, add up to ‘Big Differences’ that we often cannot foresee. Thomas Edison once said, "If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves," - and so we are choosing this path.
We apply Teamwork to all our doings, which not only divides the task(s) at hand, but also multiplies the Success of the Project.
As you all know, getting good players is easy. Getting them to play together is the hard part. We here are Exceptional Team Players who all enjoy working with each other very much...
We were here... We are here... and we will always be here to continue our path of giving of ourselves, and we will always remember that we expect to pass through this World but once. Any Good therefore that we can do, or any Kindness that we can show to any fellow creature, we'll do it now. We would not let ourselves defer or neglect it, for we shall not pass this way again.
Some of the Organisation’s Goals are:
To create a dynamic, recognized and respected youth movement throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
To develop our Peers, the Youths of the Nation to being the collective and articulate voice to efficient changes in the affairs of Young People, and all Citizens at large, in Trinidad and Tobago.
To redirect Trinidad and Tobago onto a pathway that leads to a much more promising future for all of us.
To encourage Networking in the Youth Work Environment.
To provide Charity Products that reflect our commitment to excellence in satisfying the needs of our Citizens and Environment.
To establish the Pillars for the Changes we want and need to see.
'Empowering through Volunteering' - this Organisation uses Volunteering as a fundamental asset in promoting Individual Empowerment. Volunteering acts as the key in unlocking the true potential for change in today’s Youths and it is by this process positive change in Trinidad and Tobago can be achieved.
We will mean something to the people. We will be the voice of the people. And without a single doubt, we most definitely deserve to be heard…
